Calendar Art Contest: Guidelines


YISS students are invited to submit their original artwork to the Calendar Art Contest. The winning pieces will be published in the 2021-2022 YISS Calendar. All contestants will receive a participation certificate.


Theme: "Silver Linings" - we invite you to creatively express something positive you have seen or experienced arising from a difficult circumstance. View this video to gain a deeper understanding of our theme.


  • Contestants: Kindergarten-12th Grade

  • Artwork Format: Artwork may be hand-drawn or digitally created (jpg, 300 dpi – submit a print for preliminary review) in 2D or 3D (submit a photograph of sculpture for preliminary review).

  • Dimensions: Entries should not be smaller than A4 (8.5” x 11”) or larger than A2 (16.5” x 23.4”).

  • General Submission Deadline: Submit your artwork by Friday, February 19 to the Elementary, Middle, or High School Office.

  • Art Faculty Deadline: MS/HS art faculty may submit selected student artwork in May 2021.

  • Artwork must be original and relevant to the theme “Silver Lining.”

  • Students submitting 2D artwork must fill out and attach the Art Submission Form to the back of your artwork and those submitting 3D or digital artwork must fill out the online Art Submission Form. Please do NOT write your name or signature on the front of your artwork.

  • Adults may guide students but may not participate directly in the artwork. Artwork that reflects outside participation will be disqualified.

  • Each participant can submit a maximum of two art pieces.

  • A panel of judges consisting of administrators, staff, and ES, MS, HS art faculty will select the semi-finalists and finalists.

  • Artwork will be returned after the contest is over.
