2013 YISS Creative Composition Contest

FOR All HIGH SCHOOL & MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS

DEADLINE: extended until APRIL 14 , 2013

DESCRIPTION: YISS PTO is looking for a creative composition of Seoul landmarks to use as the design for the YISS community art project, “Home Away from Home. The winning composition will be enlarged, cut, and colored by the entire YISS community including K-12 students, teachers and parent volunteers. Finished artwork will then be printed on tiles and displayed in the lobby as a permanent art display.

THEME: “Home Away from Home” – Even though YISS community comes from different countries and cultures, we are here together at our new home, YISS and Seoul where our diversity creates a unique harmony.

  • Eligibility: YISS High School and Middle School Students

  • Artwork Guidelines : In order to allow art work to be enlarged and recolor by the entire YISS community the following restrictions are necessary:

    • Piece must be two dimensional and be able to scan when needed

    • Each piece can be no larger than A2 (594 x 420 mm or 23.4 x 16.5 in) to the outside dimensions of the final art work

    • Collage: must be two dimensional. A scanned image must be provided. (min 600 to 1200 dpi)

    • Prints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints. A scanned image must be provided. (min 600 to 1200 dpi)

    • Mixed media: use of more than two mediums. A scanned image must be provided. (min 600 to 1200 dpi)

    • When submitting computer generated art, a hard copy of the artwork must be provided. (min 600 to 1200 dpi)

    • Submissions should be in 8(width) x 5(height) proportion.

    • Must include YISS and N tower (Namsan building), and at least 8 landmarks from the provided list of suggested Seoul landmarks.

    • Feel free to incorporate Korean cultural or multicultural symbols

  • Each entry must be an original in concept, design, and execution and may not violate any copyright laws.

Note: Any entry that has been reproduced from an existing art work by another person is a violation of the contest rules and will not be accepted.

  • Entries will not be returned to the participants. The winner should be willing to make revisions with YISS PTO.

  • The winner will receive 500,000 KRW Recognition Award and will be contacted after April 17th.
